What is Gaussian Splatting?

Instead of building a scene from hard surfaces and textures like a traditional 3D model, Gaussian Splatting represents a space as millions of tiny, soft, coloured points - "splats" - learned directly from photographs. The result looks strikingly photorealistic, renders smoothly in a normal web browser, and captures soft details like reflections, plants and fabric that are notoriously hard to model by hand.

For Viewlo, it is the natural next step beyond 360° panoramas: a panorama lets you look around from one spot, while a splat lets you move through the space. Paired with the Viewlo AI Editor, it means a venue can be reconstructed, restyled and walked through before anything is built or renovated in real life.

How is this different from a 360° tour?

A 360° tour lets you look around from fixed points. A splat is a full 3D scene - you can move, orbit and change your viewpoint freely, which feels much closer to actually being there.

What did the AI Editor change?

The right-hand scene started from the same real space, then the Viewlo AI Editor was used to re-imagine its look - before it was reconstructed into a splat with the WorldLabs API.

Does it work on my phone?

Yes - the viewers run in any modern mobile or desktop browser. Larger scenes are smoothest on newer devices, so these demos are kept deliberately compact.

Is this live in Viewlo today?

It is an early research preview. We are sharing it to show where Viewlo is heading; 360° tours remain the core product for now.
